Newly listed mobile operator Telefónica Germany is on a mission to speed up its LTE rollout this year as the operator aims to match the penetration rates of rival operators by the end of 2013.
With current population coverage of around 15 per cent in Germany,
Telefónica Germany’s CEO Rene Schuster said the operator “should be on track with its competitors by the end of the year”.
The company certainly has its work cut out: Vodafone Germany, for example, already reports 60 per
cent LTE coverage by area, and said 20 million German households now have access to its high-speed
mobile network.
